Music production & Songwriting with Nika Machaidze and Natalie Beridze
Songwriting and music production is a 3 month program based on contemporary music production.
The course involves producing track from the scratch and songwriting skills.
During the course students among the artist tutors will experiment various musical genres such as: electronic music, contemporary music, pop music, film music and experimental music, which will help students discover their own unique sound.
During the 3 month course, students will be working closely with two well established musicians and founders of the course-Nika Machaidze and Natalie Beridze
I-III WEEKS
Music production/composition (we compose music for a song)
Harmony and its immediate production. Diverse (different and various) ways: objective; development of harmony or its simplification; survey/review of such songs in those vocal and narration through vocal has a leading part/role; itilization of vocal: vocal as the leading/principal element or vocal as an instrument that is almost incorporatedas music.
Project: we compose music, bring into the lessons, review it and discourse.
IV-V WEEKS
Setting vocal to music. Poem/verse, text, inspiration.Presenting how to write a poem for a song. Sometimes, song title – combination of several words - occurs before music composition and becomes an inspiration for the further process. Composition/song title is very vital/essential/important.
Reasoning – words that become music or on the contrary – music that turns into music. Selecting excerpts from favorite poetry and adjusting it to one’s own verse and music in the rithmical and meaningful way.Thinking about emotions and nature. Simultaneously all the students work on the text/lyrics for his song. We discuss significance of text/lyrics’ role in the song. We read and discover favorite poets. What is the difference between the lyrics/poem for the composed music from a poem/verse? What kind of modulation it requires on the assumption of rhythmic and melodic structure? To what extend is significant its sincerity and authenticity?
We start working on directly on vocal. Invention-improvisation of melody.
Searching the non-standard ways in song. Using of parallel vocals-polyphony.
Project: perfection/finishing of the song.
VI-IX WEEKS
Collaboration.
Nataly shares with the students her rich experience and tells about means and principles of collaboration: collaboration through internet or at the studio for soloist artist or a person who prefers working in a group/band. She discusses about individual approach, collective process and acceptance of collaborator’s choise during the collaboration.The students, grouped in two individuals, will start the working process. Nataly too, with one of the students, will work on a track.
Project: collaboration with a partner.
X-XI WEEKS
Making “Cove” on favorite track. Outplaying harmony on the existing melody.
Project: “COVER” fulfillment.
XII WEEK
Finalizing.
Project: review of learned material LIVE.
For joining the COURSE an individual must be familiar with any audio editing program (Ableton Live/Cubase/FL Studio) or play any music instrument. Attention to technical-program details will not be paid during the Course.
